Application Quick Restore

A guide to restoring your data using Archvist Desktop

This article assumes
  • You have data already backed up offline
  • You have enough money on your account to restore the data
  • You have enough space on your computer to download the data

Restore Section

  • The Archive tab shows you the folders you have saved offline in the cloud. The Online tab shows you the folders you have available to restore.
  • Menu options for the currently selected folder. Run a Restore, Refresh or Delete your selected folder.
  • The list of folders you have in the cloud
  • The folders inside your currently selected folder. Ticked folders will be restored when you run a restore.
  • All files inside your currently selected folder. Ticked files will be restored when you run a restore.

1. Select Restore Data

When opening the Restore section, the Archived tab will be open, showing you your Archived folders. Select which folder you want to restore, then choose which files and folders you do not want by unticking them, by default all files and folders are ticked to be restored.

 
 

2. Run Restore

Click the Play button (2) to start a restore of your selected folder.

  • You can choose to select a date and time you want to restore from, everything stored after this date will be ignored. Not choosing a date will restore the latest data of everything.
  • You will be asked to confirm you want to do this by entering a code that will be sent by email. The email will also tell you how much the restore will cost.

3. Confirm Restore

Copy and paste the confirmation code from your email into the app and click ok.

Your data will now start to be copied online, this process might take up to 24 hours.

 
 

4. Download Restored Data

Still in the Restore section, now select the Online tab (1). You will be shown the folders that have been brought online, select the files and folders you want to download as before and click the Play button (2) to begin downloading. You will have one week to download the files.

5. Choose Download Folder

If you do not have the folder you are downloading in the Backup section then you will be asked the following:

  • If the data was encrypted by you, if yes and you are not certain of the password, we recommend you only download one file to test if the password was correct before downloading the rest.
  • Choose a folder to download the data, this will need to be on a drive with enough space to store everything.
